FAQ - Withdrawal of Funds


This is Shane Walker, the CEO of Qube Money. I know how inconvenient and disruptive it is to be required to move all your money out of Qube. My wife and I are going through the same painful process. We’ve felt a lot of anxiety. Because of Qube, our finances have been on autopilot for over 5 years now. We hate this!

Several weeks ago the Qube team was on track to make the migration to a new sponsor bank by September 30, a smooth transition.  A key 3rd party vendor had a 30-day backlog, and it pushed back our timeline. Our sponsor bank wouldn’t grant an extension after multiple attempts to create a win-win. The transition plan fell apart, so here we are. I’m really sorry.  What is closing on September 30th
 

The Qube Money banking services provided by Choice Financial Group, Member FDIC is closing effective September 30, 2025. This means all debit cards, virtual cards, direct deposits, and payment services tied to your Qube Money account will no longer function after that date.

 What do I need to do by September 28, 2025?

Alternatively, you can log in to your Qube app/web account and complete these steps:


1. Transfer your money: Initiate transfers of all funds from Qube into another bank account by Friday September 26, 2025 to give enough time for your transactions to settle before Sept 30th. 

2. Update direct deposits: If your paycheck or other deposits go into your Qube account, switch them to a new bank account right away.

3. Update recurring payments: Move any automatic payments or subscriptions tied to your Qube account to a different card or bank account.

4. Verify your mailing address: Make sure your address in the Qube app is current. If your account has a remaining balance, Choice Financial Group, Member FDIC will mail you a check for the full amount to the address we have on file within 45 days of account closure.

 Is my Qube Money account closing? 

No — your Qube Money account will remain open. You’ll still be able to log in, view your qubes, categories, and settings exactly as you’ve organized them. You will use your Qube Money app to access Qube+ once it's live. Click here to see Qube+ FAQ.

Should I stop using my Qube card now?  

Yes. Stop making new purchases immediately. If a refund or return occurs after Sept 30, it could get stuck in the transition and be delayed.

Do family account holders need to move their kids' money out of Qube? 

Yes. If you have a Family account, be sure to move funds from each child's qubes before Sept 30, 2025. Any money left after that date will be mailed as a check to the address on file.

What causes a negative balance?  

A negative balance happens when a transaction settles after you’ve already moved your money out of Qube. Common causes include:

Restaurants & Tips, Walmart, Target, Costco, etc., Fuel Purchases , Online Retailers,  Hotels / Travel, Rideshares / Delivery Apps, Recurring Subscriptions, Pending Refunds or Returns.

To avoid this, complete the Move Money Out flow. This gives Qube permission to automatically transfer any remaining or late-arriving money (like refunds or delayed charges) out of your account, so nothing gets stuck and your account won’t go negative.​​​​​

What causes a negative balance?  

Before you use the Move Money Out flow, make sure your account meets these conditions:

  • All funds are qubed (No qubeless)
  • Refunds are qubed
  • No negative balances

If a qube shows a negative balance, allocate funds to that qube to bring it back to zero.

What causes a negative balance?  

If your bank isn’t integrated with Plaid, it won’t appear as an option in the Move Money Out flow. In this case, you’ll need to log in to your Qube web account and use the manual withdrawal process to move your money out before the September 28 deadline.​​​​

 What bank do you recommend we use to create the best experience with Qube+?

Any bank that send post pending transactions through Plaid.

 How much can I transfer out?

Your transfer limits are shown in the Qube app under your Profile → View Limits → Bank Transfer Limit. Please note: Your transfer limit is a transaction limit. You can make as many transfers as you need per day.

 Will scheduled bill payments or transfers from Qube still go through after Sept 30th, 2025?  

No. Starting September 30, 2025, all scheduled payments or transfers to and from Qube will stop. Be sure to move your funds out of Qube by September 28 and update any bill payments to another bank or card before this date.

 How long will the pause last?

We are on a temporary pause until Qube+ is available. We expect Qube+ beta to go live in late October 2025.

 Is there a new banking partner?

We are in active discussion. A new bank partner will be announced as soon as an agreement is finalized. ​​​​​​​

 How do I get my money out of my Qube account?

Log in to your Qube web account and use our 1-click button to move all your funds, update direct deposits, and recurring payment all at once in a few easy steps.

Alternatively, you can do this manually.
1. Move the money from your qubes into Unallocated Funds.
2.    Transfer the funds from your Qube account into your other bank account.
3.    Check your linked account details to ensure transfers go smoothly.

 Can I get a refund if I paid for the whole year?

Your membership time will pause until Qube+ features are available. Any prepaid annual subscription time will not be lost — it will resume once Qube+ is live.

 What are my options moving forward?

After you’ve withdrawn all your money from Qube, you have three options:

1️⃣ Join Qube+ Beta (Recommended) – lock your rate for life
2️⃣ Pause – Save your spot until Qube Checking returns
3️⃣ Cancel – End anytime (annuals prorated)
