Qube charges a monthly account fee because doing so creates a sustainable business model as we scale, so we don’t have to sell out to another company like One and Simple have done. From the analytics that I’ve reviewed, digital banks that only earn revenue from transaction fees aren’t profitable. Their only option is to scale quickly and sell. From my perspective, once they're under new ownership, features are stripped to create profitability.
